Greetings faithful disciples of Jesus our Lord,
Let us begin this week with a Collect of a Saint: Almighty God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth: Grant that in our earthly pilgrimage we may always be supported by this fellowship of love and prayer, and know ourselves to be surrounded by their witness to your power and mercy. We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ, in whom all our intercessions are acceptable through the Spirit, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
Restoration and Development (R & D) 2021
Thank you to the 35 members who pledged $16,630 for the continued structural improvements of the building and grounds for 2021. Our goal was $17,000. I’m confident the remaining $370 will come throughout the year.
Sunday afternoon fourteen people who came with their pets for this year’s St. Francis Pet Blessing. It was a dog year, with two cats representing felines. Plus, we took the time to remember our dearly de-paw-ted pets, and those animals affected by the wildfires. Attending pets were given tasty treats. It was a beautiful afternoon to enjoy our time with our four-legged family members who give us unconditional love.
Today’s Need – Backpack Shepherd’s Food Collection List
Canned corn and green beans are desperately needed in our BPS Food Pantry. Since we are not having our annual chili supper cookoff, canned vegetables are in short supply. Other needed items are: 4-packs of pudding, microwave popcorn, 4-packs fruit drinks, canned vegetables, boxed mac & cheese, flour tortillas, canned stew or chili, Ramen noodles, and granola bars. The donation box is in the church foyer. Monetary gifts are accepted. NO more Spaghetti!
Undies Saturday and Sunday is October 17 & 18 for Clay County Clothes Closet.
The Outreach Committee is asking for your generous donations of new underwear, socks, and undergarments for women, children, and men of all sizes. Donations may be brought to the church foyer and left in the specific ‘Undies Sunday’ drop box. Monetary donations will be accepted. Make the check payable to Church of the Good Shepherd; in the Memo write Undies.

Trek and Treat
Friday, October 30, 6:00-7:30 PM.
It’s not Trick or Treat. It’s not Trunk or Treat. In the age of COVID-19 it’s TREK or TREAT! On this night, Good Shepherd will host an evening of safe, socially distancing fun for children and families to celebrate Halloween. Children, together with their families, will navigate a spooky trekkers map to outposts on the church grounds to gather ghostly goodies. A safe way to get out of the house and enjoy a Spooktacular evening with family and friends. Plus, you get to wear your costume twice.
Children’s Sunday School is In Person on Sundays.
The sad news is due to lack of participation, our Saturday Zoom Children’s Formation at 4:00 PM has been canceled. The great news is Vicki Nelson, will teach children attending the Sunday service, in the Common Room, at 10:00 AM. Children must wear masks and will be asked to maintain social distance. If you have questions feel free to contact Fr. Galen at 452-0745, or Judy Kile, 816-520-4599.
‘Communion to Go Kits’ are available in Our Lady of Walsingham Chapel Monday through Saturday 8 AM-8 PM with consecrated wine and wafers, both regular and gluten free. Please enter by the red chapel doors.
Then on Sunday, at 10:15 AM we will once again celebrate Holy Eucharist Rite II via Facebook Live. What a joy to once again partake of the real presence of Christ with you and your families.
Day by Day Booklets are available for this quarter (August-October) in the track rack or outside the Walsingham Chapel.
