Dearest Sisters and Brothers in the Risen Jesus,
In our Lectionary cycle we are reading about the movement of the Spirit of God from the Book of Acts. There’s an urgency in how the Spirit of God is moving. Yesterday we read and heard the story of Philip and his encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch on the road from Jerusalem to Gaza at the urging of the Spirit of God. Philip runs up to the chariot, hears the eunuch reading about Jesus from the prophet Isaiah. Philip tells him the Good News of Jesus and is baptized. Then the Spirit takes Philip away from the road to the of Azotus; transporting him to a different region of the Holy Land. Both the Ethiopian eunuch and Philip have more to proclaim about the Spirit of God with urgency. This doesn’t stop Philip. He continues to preach the Good News of Jesus to the towns up the coast to Caesarea.
This leads me ask, “What is the Spirit-led urgency in your life?
We are back to three worship services a weekend.
In person Saturday night service at 4:30 PM. In person Sunday early service at 8:00 AM. In person and Facebook Live Sunday service at 10:15 AM.
Daughters of the King
Discernment classes for membership in the Daughters of the King (DOK) will start at the end of May with daytime and evening class. DOK has been vital in prayers for the congregation and service. The discernment group will determine exact day and time for these classes. If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Carye Williams at 816-225-9553 or email@example.com before May 16.
Save The Dates
Movie Night on the Lawn Friday, May 21st at 7:00 PM. We are showing News of the World, a 2020 film starring Tom Hanks and Helena Zengel. In it, a Civil War veteran agrees to deliver a girl, taken by the Kiowa people years ago, to her aunt and uncle, against her will. They travel hundreds of miles and face grave dangers as they search for a place that either can call home. Bring lawn chairs and your own beverages and snacks if you wish. If it rains, we will move to the Parish Hall with plenty of social distancing.
Starlight Theatre. At the end of June, the 22nd thru 27th, Starlight Theatre will lead off their season with Godspell. Christian Formation is in the process of investigating group rates, checking the pandemic status, and selecting a date for parishioners and friends to spend a summer evening under the stars. Please contact Judy Kile or Kim Snodgrass of your interest at (816) 266-4279 firstname.lastname@example.org or (417) 793-0780 email@example.com
