This Week starting March 22nd, 2021 at Good Shepherd
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Connection: “Now among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks.” This was the opening sentence from Sunday’s Gospel from the twelfth chapter of John. The coming of the Greeks marks the coming of the hour; the hour of crucifixion, which is the hour of victory, when God’s glory is brought to earth to be revealed to believers. As readers, we’re alerted to the idea that the hour of glorification in death leads to life.
What verses 20-26 tells us is that without the death of Christ, no worldwide gathering into the unity of the divine life would be possible. Out union with God is made possible by being with Jesus in the Father’s love, for Jesus is the point of contact between heaven and earth. Our future is present in Jesus. He is in heaven even as he is on earth. Eternal life and the kingdom of heaven have been merged. Enteral life is not about time. Eternal life is God’s life. The kingdom, the divine rule is being translated into life.
This week let us spend some time reflecting on what John 12:20-26 is really saying to us about the union that occurs when Christ will be lifted up.

Opened in 1965 to serve families whose children were affected by polio, JPBC has expanded its mission to treat and empower children with a wide range of disabilities and offer support to their families by proving an array of therapies and rehabilitation services, a residential program for mothers and children, adult PT, and a sheltered vocational workshop for adults with disabilities. The Diocese of West Missouri will match up to $1,000.00 for every dollar collected.
Walking the Stations of the Cross can be done any time you wish. You will find two different printed versions on a table by the sound system in the church. Most people can complete ‘their walk’ in less than thirty minutes. I have found this exercise disturbing, challenging, heartbreaking, rewarding, and powerful like most Lenten practices.
