Souper Bowl of Caring 2021
Since 1990, Souper Bowl of Caring has inspired people to care for one another, united communities and helped us to “be mindful of those that do not have a bowl of soup to eat” during the time of the Big Game.
Souper Bowl of Caring is a youth-inspired movement working across the nation to tackle hunger in their local communities. Mobilizing grassroots resources including churches, schools, civic groups and caring individuals, the Souper Bowl of Caring movement has created over $160 million worth of support that stays completely local.
In 2020, thousands of groups collected over $10.6 million in dollars and food donations for hunger-relief charities across the country. Thank you to donors who see the vision of a world where we can use the energy of our biggest events to help feed our neighbors in need. See our 2020 Community Report Here. Over $163 million has been collected since Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990.
The Church of the Good Shepherd has been participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring since 1998. For the last several years, the youth have chosen the Good Shepherd Backpacks program as our charity of choice. We partner with Bethel United Christ Church in this program. Since 1998, our church and the youth group have collected $5,504.43 and 1,631lbs of food. Thank you to St. Luke’s Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Joy Church for their help in these efforts.
This year the Good Redeemers will be partnering again with St. Luke’s Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Joy Church. Starting now until the Super Bowl, please bring food items (preferred) or monetary donations to the church to help support our Backpack Shepherds program. The food items needed for February are:
- Fruit cups- 4 or 6 pack
- Pop tarts
- Pasta sauce- Like Hunts
- Cereal 9-16 oz packages
- Peanut butter
To date, we have collected about 250lbs of food.
Thank you for all your support over the years. Please help make this year an even bigger success!
