Daughter’s of the King
The Daughters of the King is an international order of women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church and other churches of the historic episcopate. We do not live in an enclosed community, but we are a religious order because we take solemn vows and live according to a Rule of life. Our mission is the extension of Christ’s kingdom throughout the world through Prayer, Service and Evangelism.

The Emmanuel Chapter of the Daughters of the King, Church of the Good Shepherd, Kansas City, Mo began in October 2011. With our current membership of 20 Daughters, we are able to work in all aspects of our parish life. At the request of Father Galen, we contact all members of the congregation via either a mailed note or a personal phone call at least once each year.
This year (2021), we lost one of our long-time members, Bev Spencer, who with Carye Williams worked to establish our chapter.

The Emmanuel Chapter meets the second Sunday of each month via Zoom at 1 pm. Our chapter meetings include prayer and study as well as planning our work. We support and encourage one another and share our joys and sorrows. We pray daily for the spread of Christ’s kingdom not only in the world, but right here at Good Shepherd. We pray for the clergy, the parish, all the parish ministries, and for the special needs in our parish family. We welcome all women who are interested in finding out more about our Order to attend a meeting, or contact Carye Williams about the discernment process.
Respectfully Submitted,
Doris Fry, President

The Ushers
The ushers at Good Shepherd are often the first faces guests see when they come through our doors. Our ushers are here to welcome people to church, and to make them feel comfortable and answer any questions they might have. If you are visiting Good Shepherd, please feel free to ask any of the ushers if you have a question, or are not exactly sure what to do or where to go. During the service, ushers collect the offering and assist at communion, and are available to help in case of any emergencies. They can be identified by their blue name tags. Contact Jon Herbig for more information.
ALTAR GUILD
Altar Guild’s role is to prepare the church for worship; they care for and prepare the linens, vessels, vestments, and flowers for every liturgy at Good Shepherd, including weddings and funerals, and prepare “festival altar” decorations for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and other celebrations in the life of the parish. The Altar Guild is an eclectic group of parishioners: working, retired, men, women, single, parents, and grandparents, so scheduling is flexible. The Altar Guild is always looking for new members, and invites anyone who is interested to come and work behind the scenes as silent caretakers of Good Shepherd’s sacred spaces and liturgies.
